RYLAND PIMENTEL from San Diego began bowling in the fall of 2011. Inspired to bowl by his two older cousins who found success bowling in Texas. Within a couple seasons he began bowling Pepsi tournaments and banner tournaments. This led to bowling in the Junior Bowlers’ Tour and the Junior Amateurs’ Tour where he has won a few titles. In addition to local circuits, Ryland attends national tournaments such as Storm Youth Championships and the Cityview Youth Open. He continues to stay active in league and competitive bowling. Beyond bowling his interests in school include playing the saxophone. He’s involved in jazz, wind , marching, and pep ensembles. He is also very active within school organizations that do community outreach. These organizations such as the California Scholarship Federation and Bayanihan have fostered a strong sense of giving back and support towards the local community. He is a graduating senior, and has maintained above a 4.0 GPA throughout high school. He’ll be attending San Diego State University in the fall majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He hopes to continue competitive bowling while attending college. Ryland currently bowls out of Parkway bowl, he would like to thank the staff and coaches for their support. He’d also like to thank his family, especially his parents, his Auntie Jen and Uncle Guy and coach Josh Modelo for their tireless efforts and support throughout the years. He’d like to graciously thank CalUSBC for the opportunity to be the 2024 Star of Tomorrow recipient.
